Lake George Improvement District Water Treatment Notice
Dear Lake George Property Owner / Resident,
The Lake George Improvement District (LGID), in partnership with Aquatic Plant Management LLC (APM), will be conducting a targeted herbicide application to control invasive Eurasian Watermilfoil (EWM) this season on Monday June 15.
Background & Purpose
EWM is an aggressive, non-native weed that forms dense mats on Lake George, disrupting navigation, swimming, and wildlife. Historically, the lake relied on "contact" herbicides that only offered temporary, single-season relief. To achieve longer-term control, the LGID Board—supported by a MN DNR grant—has selected a highly advanced, selective treatment for the upcoming season.
Treatment Overview
The Product: We will be using ProcellaCOR™ EC, a systemic herbicide that targets invasive milfoil while minimizing impact to native aquatic plants.
Precision Application: APM will use GPS-guided navigation and automated tracking systems to precisely apply the treatment only to mapped EWM beds.
Fewer Chemicals, Longer Results: ProcellaCOR requires a much lower chemical dose than traditional treatments and is expected to limit EWM impacts to recreation for up to three years.
What Residents Need to Know
Minimal Water Restrictions: ProcellaCOR is classified by the EPA as a "reduced risk" pesticide and carries significantly fewer water-use restrictions than past treatments.
Shoreline Signs: APM will post "Notice" signs along treated shorelines prior to application
